Intermediate Goals

Goal 1: Promote healthy eating and nutrition education in Baton Rouge Public Schools.

a. Research policies and practices that improve nutritious school lunches in Baton Rouge Schools.
b. Increase nutritional cooking demos in schools.

Goal 2: Increase and promote free and low-cost programs, events, and initiatives for people to live healthy lifestyles in East Baton Rouge Parish.

a. Promote a fitness app that will engage residents to increase the amount of time they perform physical fitness activities.
b. Host events that promote physical fitness.

Goal 3: Develop and perform free wellness programs in East Baton Rouge Parish.

a. Engage students in EBRP schools in the We’re Well program which promotes holistic wellness.
b. Engage community members in a community wellness program through a partnership with Community-Based Organizations (CBO).

Goal 4: Evaluate the feasibility of a food hub model to build a local food culture infrastructure and align/activate existing resources.

Goal 5: Improve access to locally grown fresh food in high needs zip codes through GGH partners.

a. Support the coordination and collaboration between Geaux Get Healthy partners to produce and distribute fresh food.

Goal 6: Create a centralized, city-wide community gardening program to ensure the sustainability of existing and new community garden assets.
