Adults 65+ with a Vision Difficulty

Select a Census Tract
Measurement Period: 2018-2022
This indicator shows the percentage of the population aged 65 years and over that are blind or have serious difficulty seeing even when wearing glasses.

Why is this important?

Vision changes occur as people age. People with a vision difficulty encounter challenges in performing daily activities such as reading, cooking, driving a car, watching TV, taking medication, and keeping personal accounts. An older adult whose vision becomes impaired may need to learn new ways of completing tasks. Vision loss may isolate older people, and is associated with higher prevalence of chronic health conditions, death, falls and injuries, depression, and social isolation.
